Who's In Charge??
In our world today, many people are asking the question -- "Who's in Charge"? Some say this person -- some say another person ......many people, who may not actually say it out loud, but in their hearts, they are saying I AM in charge! It's true that we are all responsible for our own choices --- and we need to stop placing the blame for all the ills in our lives, on others ---until we first look in the mirror and accept responsibility for our decisions and actions.
In 1875 in England, a poet named William Earnest Henley, wrote a famous poem which was entitled, "Invictus"
(that word means "unconquerable"). Henley had lived through the amputation of one leg, and was facing the loss of the other leg, due to complications from tuberculosis. They worked on him, and were able to save the leg ..... out of this comes these words:
INVICTIS
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
This is the poem that Nelson Mandala supposedly read daily while in prison for all those many years, prior to becoming the leader of South Africa.
I'm drawn to the last two lines ...... "I am the master of my fate I am the captain of my soul."
So many today espouse this philosophy that they and they alone are the "master" of their future.
Let me ask you personally -- Who's in Charge of your life? Who's in charge of your destiny?
Theologically, we know that GOD is the only one "in charge" of the universe!
Psalm 24:1 states, "The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein."
Isaiah 40:22 states, "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in."
Isaiah 46:10 states, " He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth'."
God made the world -- and God made man in His image -- and God gave us a will to trust Him or not!
What are you doing with that free will? Have you acknowledged that God is in "control" of your life? Have you acknowledged that your future is in His hands?
Yes - you have a will
Yes - you have a choice
Yes - you are responsible for your destiny -- by the choices you make
Yes - you are in charge of you -- so choose God's plan for your life!
So many today, think that the world is "going to hell in a hand-basket" -- and that it is seemingly out of control. But GOD is still with us! HE has not left us! HE will never leave or forsake us! We are not alone!
I choose to trust HIM --- I choose to believe! I choose to ask HIM to guide me and to guide our country and our world.
I do know -- Who's in Charge?
HE IS !
